How would you describe your style? My style is not unique, but it is an adaptation of what I see every year. Some say that I may spend alot of time thinking about my appearance, but in true fact the amount of time I spend to my own aesthetics allows me to approach my daily life with confidence. I appreciate classic silhouettes in modern colors with unique accessories (shoes, handbags, jewelry, BELTS, scarves!!!). I buy what I like, so I feel that it will always be "a la mode".
So, Classique= Classic +Chic :)
Name your favorite item in your closet.
I can't say that I have a favorite- as I buy what I love. I can tell you my go to pieces that I may repeat more than necessary...
--Black Matte Jersey Wrap Dress ( it has an amazingly feminine ruffled collar that takes it from classic to modern)
--My 3 inch black leather braided belt. I find reasons to wear it with everything.
--Chartreuse blazer...it looks great with Grey wool pants, my brown skirt and even with dark rinse denim.
--Plum suede dorsay pumps....need I say more!
What wouldn't you be caught dead wearing?
White shoes...pumps, sandals. A metallic can do a better job than white.
Who is your style icon and why?
Wow- you asked the wrong person the right question- effortlessly there are some young celebs that get it on point always- but they have so much more living to do that I can't call them icons but they are worth mentioning: Kerry Washington, Rachel Bilson, Katie Holmes!
As for an icon: These ladies never disappoint, Jada Pinkett Smith, Cate Blanchett, and Charlize Theron
What's your favorite Recessionista shopping/wardrobe tip?
That makes me laugh - I must have missed that we were in a recession b/c I've been pinching pennies for awhile.
--Stay active and healthy. Don't gain weight and get in a situation where you NEED to buy clothes.
--Find a good tailor ( alterations shop) My favorite is LV in Stone Mountain off of Highway 78... because you can refurbish items that you may no longer like or do not fit and make them new.
--Also, repairing your clothes timely help them to last longer. Shop on eBay, consignments shops, and yard sales (in the right neighborhoods) as people have a desire to simplify their lives and make some money. You can get great designer finds for 50 to even 80% off. And of course, shop A Clothes Encounter events!
